Third Grade Veterans Day Performance
Thursday, November 8th @ 1:30pm
Click on buttons below for song lyrics. You can listen to the songs as well.
If you get to be very confident at this one, the Round Rock Express holds auditions in the late winter (Late January/Early February) for people to sing at a game. Check back for updates; I'll post information when it becomes available
If we can sing this one well enough, we may try to add in the sign language. Also, this will be the song during which we will display our photo slideshow. Feel free to add photos of your Veteran family members here.

There's a chance we may adapt and use a version more like this one for our performance. If we do, we'll be looking for a student or two to read the spoken part, so practice up!
I know, the lyrics for the Army song are different. On Veterans Day, 1956, the new lyrics were adopted. Until that point, soldiers sang "The Caisson Song," heard here. A caisson is basically a cart for hauling artillery. You can read more about the history of the Army song here.

Third Grade
In third grade, we begin to increase the depth and complexity of songs and activities. We will be doing so through new movement activities, listening selections, and songs with new pitches and rhythms.
Writing Template
In class, we have been practicing writing out rhythms and melodies using our four-sixteenth note rhythm (takadimi). Click below for a printable writing template to practice at home!
There are also online resources for writing out musical notation. Go to my Music Links! page to explore.
